я [jɑ] — I (sing.); ти [tɪ] — you (sing.); він [wʲin] — he (sing., masculine); вона [wɔn'ɑ] — she (sing., feminine); воно [wɔn'ɔ] — it (sing., neuter); ми [mɪ] — we (pl.); вони [wɔn'ɪ] — they (pl.); ви [wɪ] — you (pl.).

Notes

  1. The form of personal pronouns він, вона, воно, вони with prepositions and without is different, so you have to remember both of them.

    Example:

    Крім нього/неї/них, тут нікого не було. — There was no one, besides him/her/them.: Genitive case.

    Це його/її/їх не стосується. — This does not concern him/her/them.: Gen.

  2. Locative form нім is less popular then ньому and is mostly used in literature.

мій [mʲij] — my/mine, твій [twʲij] — you/yours, його [jɔɦ'ɔ] — his/its, її [ji'ji] — her/hers, наш [nɑʃ] — our/ours, ваш [wɑʃ] — your/yours, їхній ['jixnʲij] — their/theirs, свій [swʲij].

Notes

  1. мій, мої are used mostly with inanimate things and мого, моїх with animate beings.

  2. Locative form моїм is less popular then моєму and is mostly used in literature.

  3. Possessive pronouns її (her/hers), його (his) does not change.

    Example:

    Це її/його дім. — This is her/his home.: Nominative.

    Нам не впоратись без її/його допомоги. — We won't make it without her/his help.: Genitive.

    Я знайшла її щоденник. — I've found her/his diary.: Accusative.

  4. Possessive pronouns твій (you/yours) and свій decline as мій (my/mine).

  5. Possessive pronouns наш (our/ours), ваш (your/yours) decline as adjectives from hard group.

  6. Possessive pronoun їхній (their/theirs) declines as adjectives from soft group.

  1. чий, чиї are used mostly with inanimate things and чийого, чиїх with animate beings.

  2. Locative form чиїм is less popular then чийому or чиєму and is mostly used in literature.

  3. Conjunctive pronouns are the same as interrogative pronouns but without question-marks.

  4. Declension of хто? (who?), що? (what?) is very important, because it matches the questions of Ukrainian cases.

  5. який? (what?), котрий? (which? what?) decline as adjectives from hard group.
