The adjective (прикметник [prɪk'mɛtnɪk]) is a part of speech which defines the subject and answers the question: “який?” “яка?” “яке?” (which?/what?/what kind?) and “чий?” “чия?” (whose?).

The adjectives can define:

The adjective can be changed according to gender, number and case of the noun it defines:

солодкий шоколад — sweet chocolate (singular, masculine gender, Nominative case),

солодка цукерка — sweet candy (singular, feminine gender, Nominative case),

солодке морозиво — sweet ice cream (singular, neuter gender, Nominative case),

солодкі яблука — sweet apples (plural, Nominative case).
